Is it just me or is just plain unnatural to get up while it's still dark outside? Last week we were out on spring break. Spring break=no setting alarm clock=wake up whenever my body/children tells me to. I like spring break. The thing about spring break this year is that it started off with changing the darn time on me. But you know, it wasn't that big of a deal to me since I wasn't living by the alarm clock. But alas, spring break is only a break and this week things are back to normal around here. Now I am no early riser by any stretch of the imagination. I tend to roll out of the bed just in time to wake, dress, feed and rush the boys off to school dropping them at the door seconds before the tardy bell rings. What can I say? I like to keep things spunky around here. My alarm is going off at 6:35ish so I have time to hit snooze a couple of times and jump up and attempt to grab a quick shower before waking the natives. That way if I accomplish nothing else that day with my personal hygiene agenda at least I won't smell bad. I have such high expectations, I know.....totally opposite of my former younger, childless self. Oh what we do for our kids! The problem is that whole shower thing before waking the natives has been kinda null so far this week. Don't worry. I have showered, it's just been after morning school activities, which means I've gotten a whole bunch of nothing else done the past few days. Do you know why I haven't showered so early in the morning? It's b/c the sun is still sleeping at that time of day and I think I should be too. Now I know back in the old days when we were all living of the land and in the middle of a depression that the whole daylight savings time was a good idea. But those days are long gone. Not that we aren't headed for another depression considering our nation's financial standings, but that's a whole other can of worms. My whole point of all this rambling is that I think we should do away with the observation of daylight savings time. Anybody else? I mean not only are we forced to get up before the sun, which is all kinds of ways unnatural to me, our kids can't get in bed at a decent hour b/c they can't successfully go to sleep until the sun goes down. And if you live close to the border of another time zone, that's well after 8:00, closer to 9:00 in the summer.
I know nobody else really cares about what I think about the whole time thing and would rather see pics of kids and know what we've been up these days, and I promise to deliver soon. I just thought I'd throw it out there in case anybody who reads this happens to be in good with some of those people who make decisions about such and might like to pass along my tip: let's just stick to regular old time and forget trying to save some daylight. My body sure would appreciate it. Thanks!
